Serious fire at the headquarters of Monoprix in Tunis
Saturday, 24 July 2010 18:53
Monoprix Tunisie Downtown Tunis, specifically, the seat of Monoprix on Rue Jamel Nasser was, Saturday, July 24, 2010, the sad scene of a fire caused, according to preliminary results and the testimony of some people on site at a Short circuit coupled with a gas leak. The loss would have fired around 11 am in the radius of liquors and wines before spreading to several other departments including that of textiles (clothing, lingerie). Services Emergency Preparedness quickly rushed to the scene, but Having regard to space restrictions, they could make use of substantial resources, which may explain in part the slowness
found.

Indeed, up to 16 hours of the afternoon, the fire was not yet fully mastered, fire and smoke were still visible, given the nature of the area is particularly sensitive because of the proximity of headquarters of the Embassy of France (just opposite) and by the existence of local call center Direct Phone Service (DPS) which lie just above those of Monoprix.

Note that the Governor of Tunis and the first delegate from the capital and several senior officials of relevant departments were on site to oversee rescue operations.

We waited the end of the fire to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the precise cause of the accident and assess the extent of damage.
